Acting
Tamara spent her childhood on Prince Edward Island performing in dance shows and piano recitals. She spent summer after summer watching Anne of Green Gables in Charlottetown, imagining herself on stage. After majoring in Dance in Toronto and exploring the world of Music Theatre via Disney's Beauty & The Beast, she turned her attention to Film & TV. She worked steadily in TV, garnering Gemini nominations (Canada's Emmy's) for Best Actress in a Leading Role three years in a row. Wanting to deepen her craft, she pursued her M.F.A. at American Repertory Theatre at Harvard University. Tamara currently works in Film, TV and Theatre. She never did perform in Charlottetown's Anne of Green Gables.

What the critics are saying:
Henry VIII, Actors' Shakespeare Project, directed by Tina Packer: "...the strongest performances…Tamara Hickey as a Katherine checking righteous rage with cool
dignity."
- Carolyn Clay, Theatre Mania
God's Ear, Actors' Shakespeare Project, directed by Thomas Derrah: "Both Hickey and Elwood, who makes a convincing 6-year-old, have long, difficult monologues
that, on Saturday, they fired off without the slightest hesitation…the final exchange between Mel
and Ted, which Hickey and Kuttner make unexpectedly tender…a fitting conclusion for a
production that's outstanding in every way."
- Jeffrey Gantz, Boston Globe
The Merchant of Venice, Shakespeare & Company, directed by Tina Packer: "…the good wealthy lady Portia of Belmont, marvelously played by Tamara Hickey with a fierce
sense of womanly pride, intellect and assertion, tempered by good old-fashioned girlish longing
and lustful anticipation…She is a force to be reckoned with…"
- Jeffrey Borack, The Berkshire Eagle
Cymbeline, Shakespeare & Company, directed by Tina Packer:
"Tamara Hickey is a lustrous Imogen...going from tragedy to comedy on a dime."
- Ed Siegel, WBUR
